Welcoming Kirstein: Supporting Military Families at Home-Start Wessex

We are delighted to welcome Kirstein to the Home-Start Wessex team as our new Military Project Intervention Worker.

Kirstein brings both professional experience and personal understanding to her role, having been a military spouse for over 10 years. Her journey has given her a deep insight into the unique challenges faced by military families, particularly during periods of deployment and transition.

Previously, Kirstein worked with Home-Start in Cyprus, where she supported military families living overseas. During this time, she provided vital emotional and practical support to parents navigating the complexities of military life away from home. Her experience has equipped her with the empathy, resilience, and knowledge needed to make a meaningful difference to the families we support here in Dorset.

Kirstein shares:
“I know what it’s like to face difficult times on your own as a military spouse while your partner is deployed, and I never want anyone to have to face that alone.”

Her passion for ensuring no family feels isolated or unsupported is at the heart of her work, and we are incredibly proud to have her join our team.

We are also pleased to share that this role has been made possible thanks to funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. This funding allows us to expand our support for military families across our community, ensuring they receive the help, understanding, and connection they deserve.

With Kirstein on board, we are strengthening our commitment to supporting those who serve and the families who stand beside them.

We also have some exciting news coming soon about how we’ll be growing our support for military families even further—so watch this space.
