Meet Our New Volunteer Manager: Kathy

We’re delighted to welcome Kathy to the Home-Start Wessex team as our new Volunteer Manager.

Kathy brings with her more than 30 years of experience in volunteer management and safeguarding, having worked with organisations including Age UK, Age Concern, Faithworks Wessex, as well as in social services and the NHS. Her wealth of knowledge and passion for supporting people make her a fantastic addition to our team.

In her new role, Kathy will lead on all aspects of volunteer management across Home-Start Wessex, including recruiting, training, supporting and developing our incredible volunteers. As our service continues to grow, Kathy will play a key role in ensuring our volunteers feel valued, confident and equipped to make a real difference to local families.

Kathy lives in Broadstone and has two grown-up children. She says:

“As the new Volunteer Manager, I lead on volunteer management for the organisation. This includes looking at recruitment, training, support and development of all volunteers. I am excited and passionate about supporting families and volunteers within my role at Home-Start Wessex and to be working with the team to offer support and help each other as we grow and support families locally. It’s a privilege working with our amazing volunteers.”

If you’ve been thinking about volunteering, there’s never been a better time to get involved. Our volunteers provide practical and emotional support to parents with young children, helping families through challenging times and ensuring no one has to face parenting alone.

Interested in becoming a Home-Start Wessex volunteer? We’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with Kathy at volunteering@homestartwessex.org.uk to find out more about our upcoming training and volunteering opportunities.
